211 countries and territories dream of playing at the main stage of international football in 2022. This travel vlogger, however, has already secured her place. Not on the pitch, though.
Renata Pereira creates travel videos on YouTube. She was invited by the organization of the World Cup to visit the country and create a series of videos explaining to visitors what to do in Qatar, how to get around, and how to enjoy the country in between matches.
“I’m thrilled with the invitation. It’s the recognition of a work that started 5 years ago and, based on the feedback I get every day, has already helped hundreds of people plan their dream trips.”
Renata has been travelling the world full-time as a living since 2018. Among her previous hit series, her travel vlogs in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan. Since the beginning of the year, her YouTube channel gets an average of 1 million views per month. (https://www.youtube.com/renatapereira_EN?sub_confirmation=1)
What about India? One might ask. “Travel to India was in my plans for 2020, but due to covid, we had to reschedule the trip. We’re now making plans for early 2021, hopefully”, says Renata.
Attending a World Cup is nothing new for this Brazilian content creator. She has actually worked on the previous 4 World Cups in the Media Department for FIFA. Now, for the first time, she’s using her own social platforms to create the bridge between travel and football.
“I’ve always loved video production, and when I realized I could transform this passion into an independent career, I didn’t even think twice. Being your own boss is risky, but it brings many rewards when you find the right path. Also, it’s hard to start from zero after having an established career, but when you have determination, several doors will eventually open.”
With the global pandemic still a risk, Renata waits for a more appropriate moment to travel to Qatar. But it’s already possible to follow her preparations on social media.
